Culture Night 2010

As part of Culture Night 2010 (September 24), we will be hosting an evening of storytelling throughout the museum.

*THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED*

In the Giant’s Room Chris will be telling The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde – a classic tale of friendship, heartbreak and redemption.  Can the laughter of a child melt the cold heart of a selfish giant?

Inside the Fairy Hill Séamas will be reciting and discussing extracts from Brian Merriman’s 18th century poem Cúirt An Mheán Oíche, which tells of an encounter with an Otherworld woman, and is famous for its frank and satirical treatment of sexuality, ironic parody of the battle of the sexes, and its biting social commentary.

Pull up a tree stump by our Wishing Well, where Anthony will be telling the full story of Tír na hÓige (including the dark fight with Fomor).

Each story will last approximately 15 minutes, and will be separated by 5 minute intervals, with time at the end of the evening for tea and chats.

This evening is suitable for adults and more mature children.  12+ advised.

There will be two sessions on the night, 6pm and 8pm.

Each will last about an hour and a half, including breaks for tea and chats.

Stories will be told in specific areas of the museum and there will be no standard tours of the museum after 5.45pm on Culture Night.

Admission is free and places are limited so advance booking is essential.  Email us at rainbow@leprechaunmuseum.ie to book your tickets.
