This little ‘red man’ of lore in east Co Limerick is dressed all in red, with a sugarloaf scarlet hat and long scarlet cloak. He is about half the size of a human, and has long grey hair and a wrinkled face. He comes to visit big houses, and likes to warm himself by the fire. His appearance is usually a sign of bad luck to follow, especially if he is refused something he asks for.
